Chapter: 4057
She strolled casually in the rain, while Leonel's gaze never left her.

Suddenly, he rasped, "Why the divorce, Alexis? Is it because of Anika or Calvin?"

She halted, responding curtly, "Both!"

With that, she walked away. Leonel remained, lost in thought, ignoring the rain.

Alexis had been born into wealth, cherished by the Fowler family, while he was nobody.

Now that she was done with him, she could discard him like trash.

As Alexis reached the car outside the cemetery, Leonel hurried over, pressing her against it. He shouted hoarsely, "I won't divorce you! You're not leaving me, Alexis."

With those words, Leonel stormed off.

He made his way to his car. The driver approached with a towel, only to be rebuffed.

Left with no option, the driver circled to the front and climbed in.

The black limo crept past Alexis, who silently closed her umbrella and entered her car. Seated in the car, she reflected on how both she and Leonel had changed.

Why continue this torment, she wondered, when they could simply be decisive?

Alexis hadn't confided her divorce intentions to her parents, hoping Leonel would come to his senses first. Perhaps, once his anger cooled, he'd realize that letting go of his obsession would actually bring him closure.

Alexis didn't head straight home.

Instead, she ventured downtown and settled into an Italian restaurant for a solitary meal.

Returning home after her meal, she found Leonel absent.

“Dad returned, grabbed a suitcase, and left saying he'd be abroad on business for at least a week," Evelyn relayed.

Reluctance shone in Evelyn's eyes.

Alexis soothed her by patting her on the head. “Perhaps it's urgent. He'll spend time with you once he's back."

Evelyn bit her lip, hopeful. "Do you really think so?"
