Chapter: 4090
Noreen quickly handed him the subpoena.
Even though it was just a piece of paper, Leonel felt as if it weighed a thousand pounds. He stared at it for a long time before saying softly, "You can leave now. I would like to have some time alone."
Noreen wanted to say something, but when she saw that Leonel was in a bad mood, she stood up and left without a word.
Now alone in the lounge, Leonel read the subpoena over and over again until his eyes ached. Then, he brought out his phone and dialed Alexis’ number. After two rings, the call was declined.
But he refused to give up. He just kept trying.
Because of this, Alexis blacklisted his number and blocked him on every possible social media platform that he could reach out to her.
Now, she had cut him off completely.
There was just no way for Leonel to reach her.
He was not completely out of her life.
The reception room was silent, except for the sound of Leonel's steady breaths.
He started breathing faster and heavier.
He lounged on the sofa, glancing around aimlessly. He felt lost, as if a heavy weight burdened his heart.
It felt suffocating.
He forced himself up, pacing the room. It was like he'd lost something vital, but no matter how he searched, it remained elusive.
Later that night, Leonel drove home.
The villa was serene upon his arrival. Stepping out of the car, he glanced up at the darkened upper floors.
As he entered the hall, a servant approached, taking his briefcase.
Avoiding eye contact, she murmured, "Mrs. Douglas took the kids to her parent's place. She also took Ollie."
Leonel started upstairs but paused, turning back.
Beneath the lamplight, he asked in a soft tone, "Did she say anything?"
