Chapter: 4186
After placing the document on the small coffee table, she looked up at Alexis. Alexis was standing by the French windows, and she Looked exceptionally thin. Noreen couldn't help but frown as she scrutinized her. She knew that Alexis was pregnant, but she just couldn't understand why she was so thin.
Nevertheless, she went ahead to fulfill the main purpose of her visit.
“Regarding the property, Mr. Douglas will make arrangements to ensure that the three children..."
“This agreement is all I need," Alexis quickly interrupted. “Thank you for delivering it in person, Noreen."
Noreen couldn't help but feel a bit sad. “It's what I should do,” she replied, trying to avoid choking up. “I'll take my leave now. Please take care of yourself."
"I will," Alexis said with a faint smile.
Melissa was the one who saw Noreen out. She and Marcus had been with Alexis all through the previous night. When she had led Noreen down to the parking space, Noreen suddenly turned and said to her, “Thank you so much. But if I may ask, how is the child doing?"
Knowing that Noreen was just working for Leonel as an assistant, Melissa wouldn't make things difficult for her on purpose.
However, she refused to answer her question. Even though Leonel had been good to them before, Melissa decided that it was her duty to stand with her husband in such a crucial period.
When Noreen saw that Melissa was not going to answer her, she sighed and kept her mouth shut.
After getting into the car, she went back to report her visit to Leonel.
Meanwhile, Melissa remained standing in the parking lot for a while.
But when she finally turned around to leave, she suddenly bumped into Marcus. "Oh," she gasped in surprise.
"What did she say?" Marcus asked her, referring to Noreen.
"She asked about the child," Melissa replied. "I think Leonel's the one who wants to know. But since I didn't answer her, she felt disappointed."
Marcus wrapped his arm around Melissa's shoulder and walked with her back inside the villa.
He didn't say anything in response to her statement.
“Why aren't you saying anything?" Melissa asked in surprise as she stopped to straighten his collar. “Are you planning to go with Edwin to beat Leonel up again?"
Marcus still stayed silent. He held her hand and gently rubbed it for a moment before finally responding to her in a hoarse voice, “What's the use of beating him up? We were brothers, and I was mad at him and took it out at him because we were family. But right now, we have no relationship. We all have feelings, you know. I know that since things have come to this extent, it has become tough for everyone. In the future, there probably won't be any further contact between us. Apart from Alexis, the person who will feel hurt the most is probably my dad. Please try to spend more time with him whenever you can. He really likes the tea you make for him."
Melissa wrapped her arms around his waist, placed her head on his shoulder and said with a sigh, "I feel like you've changed. You've become more mature and steady, different from how you used to be."
