Chapter: 4205
Understanding Leonel's priorities, Noreen could foresee the disappointment of the ambitious PR manager. As expected, Leonel finally spoke up, saying nonchalantly, "Miss Hayes, why don't you head back to the office first?"
The PR manager seemed taken aback. “But Mr. Douglas, what about the Luncheon?"
Leonel didn't say anything more, but he flung a meaningful glance at Noreen.
Understanding his silent message, Noreen directed the woman, Lydia Hayes. "You heard Mr. Douglas. Back to the office it is! And I'm sorry that you didn't pass your trial, Miss Hayes."
Lydia looked frustrated.
Later, in a private conversation with Noreen, Lydia sought clarification with a hint of confusion. "Miss Rivera, did I do something wrong? I know I'm capable of this job. Mr. Douglas is being too harsh and dismissing me Like this isn't fair."
Noreen, having missed the earlier exchange, listened attentively.
Yet Lydia's words now helped her piece things together. Noreen paused for a while. "You see, Miss Fowler is Mr. Douglas’ top priority. You may have crossed a line earlier. Whatever you said clearly struck a nerve. There has to be more to it than meets the eye."
Lydia felt a pang of regret upon hearing Noreen's words, eager to make things right.
But Noreen shrugged it off casually. "Don't dwell on it! There might still be hope for you if you made blunders at work. But this? Not a chance."
After seeing Lydia off, Noreen returned to Leonel's side, taking a seat beside him.
Curiosity got the better of her so she asked, "Did you bump into Miss Fowler earlier?"
With his gaze fixed ahead, Leonel nodded in confirmation.
After a moment of silence, he added in a casual tone, "She's here for prenatal checkups. Once I've seen the results of her ultrasound, I'll go get that IV drip like you suggested."
Noreen responded gently, “Then we'll wait here together."
The two of them sat quietly on the bench. About twenty minutes later, Alexis' assistant arrived with the ultrasound report. "Mr. Douglas, Miss Fowler asked me to pass this on to you."
Setting the report down, the assistant prepared to leave. However, Leonel stopped her with a question. "Where's Alexis?"
The assistant replied with a faint smile, "Miss Fowler has already left."
Leonel couldn't help but feel a twinge of disappointment upon hearing this.
Leonel bent over, studying the ultrasound report intently. Only a tiny dot marked the early stage of the fetus’ development on the film. Yet, the words reassured him: the baby was thriving at ten weeks.
