Chapter: 4241
Why did Alexis pick this name?
Shocked, Leonel slowly lowered himself onto the bench, his face draining of color as he whispered the baby's name over and over. A while later, he seemed to come to terms with it, just like he had accepted the fact that Alexis would always miss Calvin.
Gazing down at the ultrasound image, he saw a delicate little being with features resembling Alexis, but he could discern traces of himself as well.
A wave of dizziness swept over him as he contemplated the child's origin and Alexis' unwavering determination to protect her. It was enough to stop him from making a scene.
Meanwhile, he pressed the film against his heart, knowing it held the image of the child of both Alexis and himself.
He pulled out his phone and edited a message, pausing to read it over for a long while before hitting send. Feeling emotional, he pondered how he and Alexis had reached this point.
Alexis now avoided seeing or speaking to him.
Back then when she brought him home, she was so happy as if he were her own cherished teddy bear.
"You know, Cordelia is a beautiful name."
Alexis received that message from Leonel while seated in the back seat, with her assistant driving and relaying information to her.
However, Alexis was lost in her thoughts, her attention solely on her phone for a moment before setting it aside. She gazed out the window, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
Perhaps Leonel would never truly understand the significance of the name she picked or what she longed for. Yet she had no desire to clarify anything to him.
The assistant considered saying more, but Alexis' expression stopped her.
She couldn't shake the thought that Alexis appeared indifferent to Leonel, yet they had grown up together. Apart from her marital obligation to him, there had to be more to their relationship. It seemed impossible for her to sever ties with him entirely.
In fact, she believed Leonel might be grappling with similar inner conflicts as Alexis.
With that in mind, the assistant drove back to the Fowler residence, careful not to disrupt Alexis.
They arrived just before noon, finding Waylen and Rena in the drawing room eagerly awaiting Alexis, particularly Waylen, who anxiously clutched his phone.
Alexis strolled inside the house, taking her time to change her shoes.
As her assistant moved to lend a hand, Rena stepped in, exchanging Alexis' indoor slippers with care before guiding her to the couch.
"How did the check-up go? Why didn't you have me and your mother accompany you to the hospital this morning?" Waylen questioned, his tone tinged with indignation.
