Chapter: 4283
In the dimly lit bedroom, he didn't notice that Alexis had already woken up.
As he placed the baby girl in Alexis' arms, little Cordelia instinctively found her source of food and began to suckle contentedly. Witnessing this sight, Leonel suddenly felt awkward, despite it not being his first time becoming a father.
After a while, little Cordelia started to whine again, prompting Leonel to move to help her.
However, Alexis abruptly shifted and began to help the baby girl with one hand. Stunned, Leonel asked in a hoarse voice, “You're awake?"
She nodded her head silently, choosing not to say anything further.
Leonel leaned against the bed and silently accompanied the mother and the baby.
Once he had returned little Cordelia to her crib, Leonel returned to the bed. As he reached out to lie down, he felt something wet on the pillow.
Frowning in confusion, he wondered if Alexis had been crying.
Slowly, he lay down, reaching out to touch Alexis’ face with the same hand. Afterward, he withdrew his hand and instinctively Licked his fingertips, as if seeking some clue from her tears.
In the darkness of the room, they couldn't see each other's expressions.
Leonel spoke gently. "It tastes a bit salty! Alexis, please tell me why you are upset. Did I do something wrong?"
Alexis didn't know how to articulate the overwhelming feelings she felt when she saw Leonel held their daughter.
She simply shook her head and remained silent.
Understanding her silence, Leonel didn't press further. Instead, he held her tenderly in his arms, offering silent comfort.
In the following days, the two of them got along well with each other.
Leonel never imposed anything on Alexis, always respecting her boundaries and feelings.
Alexis gradually softened, feeling more at ease with Leonel's presence as long as he refrained from making advances.
Sometimes, she entertained the thought that if she hadn't seen the video clip, she might have been able to forget about the affair between Anika and Leonel.
But in reality, there were no "ifs."
As time passed, Evelyn and Daniel appeared to be content with their current lives.
