Chapter: 4301
Alexis agreed. Then she withdrew her hand gently, saying calmly, "Let's go."

Leonel felt powerless.

He grew anxious, fearing her departure, yet he knew he couldn't hold onto her.

Fear of loss consumed him.

Arriving home, Evelyn and Daniel were missing. Alexis inquired with the servant, learning the kids were with their grandparents. She shrugged off her windbreaker, heading upstairs slowly.

In the master bedroom, Cordelia slept peacefully.

A servant tended to the baby. Seeing Alexis, she rose quickly, greeting, “Mrs. Douglas."

Alexis said nothing, quietly approaching the crib, gazing at the beautiful baby which resembled both her and Leonel despite being just a month old.

Alexis couldn't resist lightly brushing Cordelia's eyebrows.

Coincidentally, Leonel entered. He overheard Alexis whisper, “Do you want her?"

He caught his breath.

After what felt like ages, his fingers regained sensation, slowly unclenching.

He turned to the servant, saying, “Step out for a second. I need to have a chat with Alexis."

The servant left in a hurry.

As soon as she left, Leonel gently shut the bedroom door.

Approaching Alexis, he embraced her from behind, resting his face on her slender shoulder, eyeing the baby in the crib. Softly, he asked, “What's on your mind?"

Alexis hugged herself, caught in his arms. After a long while, she murmured, “I believe you need a kid by your side. But if you aren't keen and want to tie the knot again someday, Cordelia can stay with me."

“I am not looking to remarry. I want my kids but I want their mother more, Alexis. Let's give it another shot, alright? One last time."

With that, he kissed her hair, his hand finding hers.

Alexis didn't pull away.
