Chapter: 4304
It was time to release her, he realized.

Nuzzling her cheek, he whispered, “Alexis, I'm letting you go. It's best for us both. We must start anew. Marcus was right. I am not your cure. I'm the problem."

Leonel spoke of the kids.

He told her, "The kids will stick with you. If you're swamped, bring them here. Don't be too harsh on Evelyn and Cordelia. Girls should be pampered after all. As for Daniel, he might shine brighter than me one day.”

His words trickled out.

Soon, he felt dampness on his shoulder. Alexis wept.

He cupped her tear-streaked face, wiping her tears gently. “Don't cry. Alexis, I've set you free. Truly I have let you go."

Alexis' lips quivered. Youthful memories surged back, tumultuous as the tide.

“Leonel, from here on out, you're mine."

"This is your home now."

"Leonel, let's pinky swear we'll stick together forever."

Forever felt like an eternity but their marriage couldn't last a mere decade. Now Leonel said, "Alexis, I'm setting you free, truly."

Alexis sobbed uncontrollably.

Leonel stayed by her side.

As dawn broke, Alexis drifted off. Gently, Leonel laid her on the bed, watching her in silence for a while.

He knew she wouldn't be his anymore, her emotions no longer his to share.

Maybe she'd find happiness elsewhere.

If she could be happy, then that would be good.

Slowly rising from the bed, his white shirt creased but he paid no mind.

The tube of lubricant sat on the nightstand.
