Chapter: 4305
He picked it up and tossed it in the bin.
Leonel went on for a two-day business trip.
He sounded quite calm as he spoke to Alexis on the phone later.
"Something came up all of a sudden. I didn't want to wake you up; that's why I left without telling you.”
He paused for a moment before continuing. "I'll be back before you know it. I won't spend more than two days."
“Okay," Alexis replied softly.
The conversation between the two was very simple, Like that of a husband who was used to informing his wife before going on any trip.
But in their hearts, they both knew that this was probably the last chance they would have to speak to each other like this.
Soon, they would no longer be able to meet or see each other, let alone have a conversation like this.
Or maybe they might even meet someone new, start a new family and never contact each other for the rest of their lives.
Two days later, in the evening time, Alexis was in the study reading a book when all of a sudden, she heard the sound of engine in the yard. She immediately guessed that it must be Leonel.
Her mind flashed back to the other night, as well as the Lube that Leonel had tossed in the trash can.
Getting up from her chair, she went straight to the French window to see what was going on.
Through the maple trees, she saw Leonel getting out of a black limousine. The sight of him made Alexis' heart tremble for no particular reason.
In just two days, Leonel seemed to have lost some weight but somehow his face looked even more handsome than before.
Being as handsome and rich as he was, Alexis was sure that if Leonel wanted to get remarried, he would have no problems finding an excellent woman for himself.
With this thought running through her mind, she stared at him quietly through the window.
Leonel seemed to feel someone staring at him. He raised his head and looked in her direction.
Immediately, their eyes met. But neither said anything to the other.
After a while, Leonel opened the trunk of his car and pulled out his luggage which he promptly carried into the house.
