Chapter: 4307
Since her health was not in good shape, it was clear that she would be in greater need of the baby's company. In other words, Leonel would have no choice but to give Cordelia up and let Alexis have her.

He stared at the baby for a long time before finally walking away.

He went directly to the cloakroom and picked up a set of clean clothes. Then he went over to the guest room to take a shower. When he returned to the master bedroom, he saw Alexis there. From where he stood at the door, he said to her in a gentle tone, “I'll be in the guest room tonight. I might come over to check on Cordelia if she wakes up later in the night, so don't lock the door."

“Okay," Alexis replied flatly.

When he was on his trip, Leonel had pondered about it many times. He tried his best to convince himself that Alexis no longer loved him like she used to and he came to the conclusion that he shouldn't touch her or share a bed with her anymore. But no matter what he thought, he just couldn't control himself.

"Don't you have anything to say to me?" he asked as he walked closer to her.

Alexis stared at him in confusion for a moment.

Then she said, “Leonel, I sincerely hope you'll live a happy life in the future."

Leonel suddenly felt a lump form in his throat. No words could describe how he felt at this moment. He turned around and all but ran out of the room in embarrassment.

Just like he said he would, he went to sleep in the guest room.

There was only one wall separating their rooms. Throughout the night, neither of them fell asleep.

Leonel came twice to the master bedroom to check up on Cordelia, even though he knew that Alexis was wide awake and aware of his presence.

After checking Cordelia to see that she was fine, Leonel looked at Alexis and she looked back at him.

But they didn't say a word to each other. After all, it would feel weird, especially for a man and a woman who were about to separate in a few days.

On the evening of the day before the parting, the sky was covered with colorful clouds that looked even more dazzling than the red maple Leaves in the yard.

Leonel had spent the whole day helping Alexis pack up. Some of the things he was packing up were for the kids.

He arranged a lot of things and put them into several boxes.

It was as if he was preparing for a trip.

In his mind, he knew that Alexis was longing to go on a trip. After leaving him, she might travel round the world with little Cordelia.

By the time they returned, little Cordelia might be able to walk on her own.
