Chapter: 4308
After loading up the boxes, he placed them neatly in the hall.
All the servants knew that Alexis and Cordelia were leaving. This made them feel sad, but none of them dared to say anything.
Throughout the whole day, Alexis had not gone downstairs.
She was upstairs in the study, drawing a picture which depicted a view from the window.
It was a picture of the yard being covered with fiery red leaves.
It took her a whole day to finish this piece of art. When she was done, she covered it with a piece of canvas.
When she finally left the study and went downstairs, she saw that the dining table had been well decorated with candles.
Obviously, Leonel was the one who had prepared this. He was seated at the table, dressed in a formal black suit.
In the middle of the table, there were two flower vases.
Leonel had sent away all the servants, so when he heard the sound of footsteps on the stairs, he looked up to see who it was.
Seeing that it was Alexis wearing an exquisite dress, he was amazed.
He got up and went over to meet her. Offering her his hand, he led her a few steps forward, away from the stairs. After all, this was probably the last time he would be able to hold her hand.
Turning on the music, Leonel danced with the woman he loved for the last time.
"You're the love of my life, Alexis," he whispered in her ear as he held her in his arms.
As a matter of fact, he never stopped loving Alexis, not even once.
That was why it felt like torture as the deadline approached. He had held on until the last day before finally deciding to separate with Alexis and send her back to her parents’ house, hoping that she would be happy for the rest of her life.
Night snuck up on the horizon quietly, just like their moment of parting which had snuck up on them so swiftly.
They didn't even get the chance to taste the wine, nor did they finish eating the well prepared meal. Alexis leaned against Leonel's shoulder and said in a low voice, "Goodbye, Leonel."
Then, one by one, the boxes were carried into the trunk of the car by the driver.
Leonel watched as Alexis finally got into the car with the baby in her arms.
