Chapter: 4378
After a weighty pause, Rena queried, "So, the man Alexis mentioned the other day, she wasn't serious about him Waylen chuckled and teased, “Well, my dear, did it really take you this long to figure it out?"
The following day, Leonel was in a sour mood and chose not to go into the office, opting instead to work from home.
In the afternoon, after waking from his nap, he heard noises downstairs, like something heavy dragging across the floor.
Was someone moving in?
Could it be... Alexis?
With that thought, Leonel hastily slipped on his robe and descended the stairs. However, instead of Alexis, he found several movers in uniforms bustling about, shifting large and small boxes into the hall while the servants looked on bewildered.
Relieved at seeing Leonel, Nova approached him respectfully. “Mr. Douglas, I'm unsure why these items were delivered here or who sent them. How should we handle this?"
Leonel eyed the suitcases. Though understated, their quality was unmistakable.
It had to be Alexis.
But what the hell did she want?
Approaching the couch to get his jacket, Leonel pulled out a wad of cash from his wallet and offered it to the movers. "Take this money and return these items!"
As the saying went, “Money often opens doors."
However, the movers had already been compensated by Alexis and hesitated to accept Leonel's money. "Sorry, sir, we can't do that. Miss Fowler instructed that these items remain here. If they're not to your liking, feel free to dispose of them once we've left. Please, just sign here so we can report back to Miss Fowler."
Frustrated, Leonel realized Alexis had played her hand well.
He didn't waste time arguing with the workers and signed without another word. After they left, he dialed Alexis' number, but there was no answer.
Over the past year, Leonel had grown softer.
But now, he was truly infuriated.
He called Alexis repeatedly until she finally picked up. "What's up?"
What's up?!
Leonel glanced at the luggage and asked in a controlled tone, “Why did you send your things to my place? I thought I made myself clear yesterday. I don't want your sympathy, nor do I need you to pay me back. It's over between us. From now on, we're strangers! Come and take your things, Alexis."
