Chapter: 4390
Then she said, “Start packing your bags. Once Mr. Douglas has reached a decision, he rarely changes his mind. I don't want to be fired as well, so you need to listen to him and leave immediately."
Hester wanted to beg even further, but Noreen, being a senior employee, told her earnestly, "Mr. Douglas has been in business circles for so many years and has seen all kinds of beauties. By now, it should be clear to everyone that no one can ruin the relationship between him and Miss Fowler. You were chosen to work for him, so you should have done your job well and tried your best to please him. But you kept opposing Miss Fowler, forgetting that she's someone he holds dear and even willing to protect with his own life. Didn't you think before doing what you did?"
Hester felt highly embarrassed by this indirect scolding.
But fortunately for her, Noreen did not press her further. After a simple check of her luggage, she let Hester Leave.
As Noreen watched the car drive off, she couldn't help but sigh.
Well, such was life.
By the way, she still had to go to the hospital to join Leonel.
Leonel arrived at the hospital when it was almost midnight. The place was very quiet.
Only his faint footsteps echoed in the corridor, giving the place an eerily solemn feel.
Nonetheless, Leonel pushed open the door to the VIP ward. Under the dim light, he could see a little girl lying down on the small bed, looking listless. Even her curls seemed lifeless.
Cordelia was fast asleep, her delicate features looking calm.
She looked so much like her mother.
Alexis was seated by her bedside, still wearing the white shirt and black trousers that she wore to the law firm earlier in the day. Her coat, on the other hand, was casually draped over the arm of the nearby sofa.
Leonel felt she looked good in this attire.
The high-waist pants made her legs look long, and her waist slim and toned, showing no sign that she had given birth to three children.
By now, Alexis had also seen Leonel and was looking back at him.
This was the first time they were seeing each other after she declared that she was going to move back. After staring at each other for a while, they both spoke up at the same time.
"You're here."
"How's Cordelia?"
Alexis stood up and touched Cordelia's forehead. "It's not that hot," she said in a low voice.
