Chapter: 4402
He guided her to the guest room. Ignoring the mud on his clothes, he pushed Alexis onto the sofa in the living room to keep her still.
His voice raised, he called out, "Leda, bring the first-aid kit here."
Leda responded from somewhere within the house.
Looking up at Leonel, Alexis asked, “What are you doing?”
She tried to stand up but he pressed her down firmly, his overbearing manner making her feel uneasy.
Leonel placed his hand on her shoulder and shouted at the door, “Hurry up!"
Within seconds, Leda rushed in and put the first aid kit on the coffee table, saying, “I'll bandage Miss Fowler. Mr. Douglas, you should go take a hot bath first, or your leg will start to hurt."
Leonel simply said, "You can leave now."
Leda, looking concerned, hesitated but did not challenge Leonel's command. As she left, she locked the door behind her.
Now alone with Leonel, Alexis realized there was no way out.
She stopped trying to flee and instead sank into the sofa, glaring at him as she said, “It's odd! You claim you don't care about me, yet you drag me back to treat my wound. Leonel, have you lost your mind? I might have to find a doctor for you, otherwise, you'll probably end up with dementia when you're older, acting like a complete fool. Imagine, Evelyn and Daniel might have to scour the globe just to find you."
“And why don't you say I'll be needing diapers too by then!" Leonel retorted as he knelt down and began rolling up Alexis’ sleeve. He noticed several cuts on her arm, still bleeding.
It hurt him to see her like this, and he murmured softly, "Are you just going to let yourself keep bleeding? I can't just give you blood whenever you need it."
Alexis stayed silent, not responding as he treated her wounds.
Once he finished bandaging her up, Leonel gently touched the white gauze, feeling a mix of emotions.
He said in a raspy voice, “Skip the shower tonight. If you're uncomfortable, just use hot water to wipe down. I'll bring you some fresh clothes later."
The room was dimly lit.
He remained seated, and Alexis looked down at him.
Leonel lifted his head to meet her gaze.
It seemed they had reached a mutual understanding, too weary to argue further.
