Chapter: 4469
Alexis was taken aback.
In the clean and orderly city hall lobby, Leonel held her hand and whispered, “We agreed to get our marriage certificate, didn't we? Alexis, let's do this now."
Alexis didn't mind getting married, but he seemed unusually eager.
Just as she was about to respond, Leonel retrieved a pair of platinum rings from his pocket, took her hand, and earnestly asked, "Should I kneel?"
It was truly unexpected.
Alexis glanced around and noticed passersby casting curious glances at them.
She gently urged Leonel. “Just put it on quickly."
He chuckled softly. "You're even more impatient than I am!"
Despite the lighthearted banter, Leonel's hands trembled as he slid the ring onto her finger... The process felt slow, much Like their past replaying in his mind.
They had known each other for over three decades, having met at the tender age of six.
If all went well, they would still be together for another three decades and more.
After placing the ring on her finger, Leonel murmured in a trembling voice, “Alexis, please guide me through the rest of our Lives.”
Alexis gazed at the plain yet elegant ring on her finger.
“I designed it myself. Alexis, please help me put mine on," Leonel urged.
Taking the man's ring, Alexis looked up at him and slowly slid it onto his finger... As she pushed it to the end, Leonel lowered his head and lightly kissed her, his voice hoarse with emotion. "Alexis, you're mine again at last."
Alexis playfully pulled his hand. "From now on, you're part of the Fowler family. You have to embody the virtues of a devoted husband, you know?"
Leonel smiled warmly. “Let's go get married."
After that, they drove to the cemetery to visit Calvin.
It was a cold winter day, the surroundings desolate and devoid of life, especially in the cemetery.
A handful of daisies added a touch of vitality.
