Chapter: 4579
Dylan caught his breath before he spoke. "Olivia!"
He stepped forward with open arms as if to embrace her, but Olivia took a step back. Her lips trembled. “Didn't you miss me? Don't you want to see Leyla?"
He grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his arms, as if to refute the question.
The moment she was in his arms, Olivia broke down.
"You scared me to death! It's been so long. Why didn't you come back home? Leyla can speak now, but I haven't taught her the word ‘dad' yet, because I wanted you to be the one to teach her. You bastard! How could you do this to us? You're so cruel!"
In her anguish, Olivia bit him on the chest.
The body that had once possessed strong muscles now appeared emaciated. Dylan let out a low groan of pain as her teeth sunk into his skin. The sound was low, but Olivia caught it.
She lifted up his black shirt.
There were scars all over his chest.
Scars that were left behind by some surgery.
She touched them with trembling fingers and asked shakily, “Was this the reason you didn't want to go home?"
"No," said Dylan in a hoarse voice.
A lie had come out of his mouth.
Olivia had only been with two men, but she was not naive. She knew what was going on in Dylan's mind. He probably thought it would be better for her to return to Raphael.
She said nothing about his dishonesty.
Instead, she placed a gentle hand on his body and whispered, "Come home with me, Dylan."
He looked deeply into her eyes.
Gently disentangling himself from her, he lowered his head and asked, “Are you sure?"
Olivia remained silent.
Her expression was icy, yet the warmth from Dylan's hand was a stark contrast. She lifted her gaze to meet his.
Two years had slipped by since his mysterious disappearance following the accident.
In that time, Leyla was born. She was now a little girl who could both walk and talk!
To Olivia, these two years paled in comparison to the decade they had shared before, but an unfamiliar coolness lingered between them.
Before the accident, Dylan and she had no secrets, sharing every part of their lives.
