Chapter: 4582
However, that scene he had witnessed changed everything, making him realize his mistake.
Perhaps Olivia's heart still belonged to Raphael. To her, Dylan might have been merely a dependable presence.
So Dylan decided it was time to give Olivia a choice.
Breaking the silence, he finally voiced his long-held thought.
"Olivia, maybe we should spend some time apart. Let's take two years. If you still want to be with me after that, we'll reunite. But if your feelings shift towards Raphael, I'll step aside.”
Olivia regarded him in quiet contemplation, perfectly still, not even blinking.
After what felt like an eternity, she regained her composure and asked, “Dylan, are you really asking me to choose between Raphael and you?"
Dylan remained silent.
Olivia cast her eyes down. Her eyelashes fluttered, and a slight shudder ran through her as she began to sob quietly. When she finally spoke again, her voice was strained. “But Dylan, we're together, aren't we?"
"I'm sorry, Olivia," Dylan replied, his voice heavy with regret.
Olivia's lips quivered as she managed a weak smile.
"Okay, I get it! Are you telling me we're not really a couple because we haven't been intimate? Is that why you're pushing me to choose between you and him? You're too kind, Dylan. You've really outdone yourself this time.”
If Leyla were actually Dylan's child, Olivia would have lost her temper and given him a piece of her mind.
She felt she needed to make him understand how stupid he sounded.
Unfortunately, Dylan wasn't Leyla's real dad.
They had an understanding before they got married. Dylan had promised to treat Leyla as his own. But now, he was forcing her to choose between him and Raphael.
Olivia found herself torn by his words.
Despite the sweat cooling on her skin, she managed to regain her composure, though with a touch of disappointment.
She straightened her clothes calmly.
As she was about to leave, she paused by the sofa and then murmured softly, "I'm not sure how to say this, Dylan, but you should know I'm not the naive girl I once was. I didn't rush into things when I chose to be with you... But why start doubting my feelings now, after everything we've been through? You think I should go back to Raphael? And what's this? Giving me two years so I can be sure who I wanna be with? You're making it feel like you're being generous and giving me the choice, but in fact, it feels more like torture, not a choice. Are you saying you won't consider getting back together unless I pass some sort of test by waiting for you for two more years? How can you be so heartless? Don't forget, I'm already in my thirties. I don't have time to waste on your games!"
In truth, she hoped her words would corner Dylan, pushing him to reconsider.
To her surprise, Dylan was more stubborn than she had expected this time.
He seemed to have made up his mind, and it appeared that nothing could sway him.
In the dimly lit room, Dylan, wearing a faint smile, remarked, "Well, Olivia, I didn't expect you to become so articulate after two years apart!"
