Chapter: 4598
When it reached the ground floor, Dylan still didn't release his grip.
Instead, he gazed quietly at the woman in his arms.
"I hate you, Dylan. But I'm also glad that you're still alive,"
Olivia muttered under her breath.
With those words hanging in the air, she pushed him away and walked out of the elevator, not even sparing a backward glance.
As she walked away, Olivia couldn't help but acknowledge that perhaps she should thank Dylan for his support over the past few years. She would always cherish those memories they shared, as they were evidence of the love they had once shared.
Despite everything, the past held the happiest days of her life.
Watching her disappear from view, Dylan couldn't shake the feeling that Olivia was akin to a baby bird. He had always protected and cherished her, but during the two years he was away, Olivia had matured and become capable of soaring high in the sky on her own.
He wasn't sure if he would come to regret his decisions in the future, but at that moment, he felt no remorse.
Meanwhile, Olivia fell ill shortly afterward.
Her poor health confined her to the house for two months. During this time, it was primarily the nanny who cared for Leyla.
Occasionally, when Olivia felt better, she would take Leyla out for a walk.
By the end of summer, Olivia had finally regained her strength.
Elva teasingly suggested that Olivia wasn't brought down by illness but rather by something called love, with Dylan being the likely culprit.
Curious, Elva asked, “Honestly, Olivia, who do you truly love, Raphael or Dylan?"
However, Olivia chose not to respond to the question.
As Elva had hinted, Dylan seemed to be the source of Olivia's distress over the past two months, so the answer should be clear.
Olivia refrained from mentioning Dylan's name again, and neither did anyone in her family. Nevertheless, occasionally, Olivia stumbled upon news articles praising Dylan's performance since his return to the company, often mentioning Gina's continued presence by his side.
But Olivia found herself indifferent to it all. She believed she could spend the rest of her life with Leyla, cherishing each day just as she had when Dylan was still part of her life.
One evening, as she chatted with Elva, an unexpected visitor arrived.
Olivia recognized the individual as a member of Dylan's company's legal team.
Elva, sensing that there was something to discuss, took Leyla out for some outdoor play, assuring that they wouldn't be disturbed.
Olivia could only let out a bitter laugh and shake her head at the situation.
Once Elva had taken Leyla away, Olivia resumed her seat, taking a sip of her coffee before addressing the lawyer. "So, how can I assist you?"
