Chapter: 4607
With her head lowered, Laura stirred her coffee in silence and then said softly, “Dylan, it broke my heart to see Olivia waiting for your return, so I gave her the key to your villa! I thought you'd change your mind when you saw her again, but I never imagined things between you would turn out like this."
As Laura spoke, Dylan just sat back quietly in his chair.
Her voice shaking, Laura continued, "I feel terribly guilty about it, but Edwin thinks maybe it's for the best for Olivia! After all, it's not right for Olivia to wait for you forever. I know I owe you a lot but I also care for Olivia, and I can't be that selfish."
Dylan was well aware of the kind of person Laura was.
She had likely also suffered quite a bit in the past few months as well.
Leaning forward, Dylan got straight to the point, saying, “I want to see Olivia. Could you arrange a meeting?"
Laura hesitated to make any promises mostly because it wasn't her decision to make. She also feared Edwin's reaction if he discovered her helping Dylan... Ever since their marriage, Edwin had been the one deciding everything for them. Given Laura's tendency to avoid responsibilities, Edwin always took advantage of this.
Laura often wondered why Edwin had chosen to marry her instead of someone more fierce and capable.
Or perhaps he preferred a wife who wasn't too sharp?
Laura's thoughts drifted to Edwin, clearly preoccupied, which only made Dylan feel more envious... Before everything went wrong, he and Olivia had been close. Now, why did he want to see Olivia?
Did he want another chance to get back together with her?
In fact, he couldn't make up his mind yet. He just knew he wanted to see Olivia and talked to her.
In the end, Laura couldn't bring herself to promise anything to Dylan.
As she left the coffee shop, Edwin appeared, saying he had finished work early and could give her a ride.
Yet, to Laura, it seemed more like Edwin was keeping an eye on her.
Feeling slightly uneasy, she got into his car.
The warm weather prompted Edwin to remove his jacket, leaving him in only a white shirt and black suit pants... which made him look sharp and smart.
As he drove, Edwin casually glanced at Laura and asked, "What did you and Dylan talk about?"
Laura gathered her courage and retorted, "If you're so curious, why didn't you go in and ask him yourself?"
Edwin kept his eyes on the road, offering only a smile in response.
After a moment, he said indifferently, "Since he's divorced from Olivia, why would I stay in touch with him? So, what exactly did you two talk about? Tell me Knowing Edwin well, Laura hesitated before admitting, “He wants to meet Olivia in person."
She thought that Edwin might get angry as soon as he heard that.
To her surprise, Edwin looked at her with a smile and said, "Is that all? Arranging a meeting like that shouldn't be too hard for you, right? I recall you're hosting a party this weekend. Why not invite Dylan to it?"
Laura assumed he was joking, but Edwin pinched her cheek and added, "I'm serious! Go ahead and invite him."
