Chapter: 4662
Laura felt a mix of annoyance and embarrassment but chose to remain silent.
With an understanding smile, the maid remarked, "It's lovely to see such passion between you. You're both still young; maybe another child will be on the way soon?"
Edwin, seizing the opportunity to shift the mood, reached into his coat and handed the maid an envelope, a generous tip indicating his appreciation for her discretion.
The maid set down the food and quickly exited, closing the door with care behind her.
Laura, eager to disengage from the increasingly passionate embrace, tried to slide off Edwin's lap.
But Edwin, now stirred by the moment, deepened his kisses, his hands exploring with growing intensity.
Concerned that Edwin might lose restraint, Laura wrapped her arms around his neck, whispering, “Not now, Edwin. You should eat something first."
Breathing heavily, Edwin pressed his forehead against hers.
“But I want you now," he murmured in a raspy tone.
With a gentle voice, Laura soothed him, promising future moments of intimacy. Reluctantly, Edwin released her, his desires temporarily assuaged by her assurances.
After their conversation turned to Dylan and Olivia, Laura chose her words carefully, not wanting to appear biased towards Dylan. Noticing her hesitance, Edwin teased her gently, "Come on, I know what you're worried about, you silly girl."
With that, he sat up to enjoy the midnight snack they had prepared for him.
Laura, holding onto one of his arms, said softly, “Olivia still has feelings for him!"
Edwin looked at her and responded calmly, "I know."
Dylan and Olivia had a long history together. They had shared many years, making it difficult for Olivia to simply move on from him.
After finishing his late dinner, Edwin considered having a cigarette but then decided against it, knowing Laura disliked the smell.
He gazed out the window at the crescent moon, pondering.
He imagined how thrilled Dylan and Olivia would be if they were to start a family- surely, they'd lead a joyful life.
A few days later, an unexpected gift from Dylan arrived for Olivia.
It was delivered early in the morning, packaged in a delicately crafted box.
However, Olivia found neither expensive jewelry nor a designer handbag inside. Instead, to her astonishment, it contained a butterfly specimen, accompanied by a note from Dylan.
Olivia, sitting in the warmth of the small parlor of her room, leaned back on the sofa to read his message.
Meanwhile, Leyla was sound asleep in the bedroom.
As Olivia held the card and examined the butterfly specimen, memories of their early married life came flooding back. Dylan had always brought her unique gifts from his business trips-sometimes quirky items, other times, things he had crafted himself.
