Chapter: 4713
She shrugged off his hold and proceeded into the hall. Reluctantly, Dylan released her, not wishing to cause her further upset.
Edwin gave Dylan a firm pat on the shoulder and warned, "Mr. Wright, stay away from my sister. She's no longer your wife!"
Before entering, Edwin glanced back at his wife.
Laura quickly took his arm, staying close to him. She allowed herself a brief glance back at Dylan.
Edwin noticed and his frustration grew. "You just looked at him! Why? He's nothing but trouble!"
Laura mustered her courage and said, “Edwin... You were once just as much of a scoundrel as he is!"
Edwin was left speechless.
Her voice softened. "Don't ever forget that!"
He vividly remembered leaving her alone on a rainy night, moving out of their shared apartment, and vowing never to return. She had spent that entire night in the rain, waiting for him to come back.
How could he possibly forget?
He was overwhelmed with guilt but knew it wasn't the place to show his emotions. Eventually, he tenderly took her hand and whispered soothingly, "I won't do that again. I'll never leave you behind again."
Laura remained silent.
Her eyes still held the same pure and innocent look they had ten years ago. Overcome by emotion, Edwin couldn't resist kissing her right there in the crowded banquet hall, gazing at her Lovingly.
This display of affection infuriated Dylan.
Meanwhile, Olivia and Cecilia had taken their seats, with an empty seat beside them. Dylan had secured this spot for 2 million. He made his way over and sat down.
As expected, Olivia glanced at him.
She wasn't shocked. With enough money, he could sit wherever he chose, but she hadn't anticipated he would actually go through with it.
She chose not to switch seats with her mother; it seemed unnecessary.
Dylan was very close to her.
His gaze lingered on her soft, glowing skin and her full figure. He could also catch the scent of her perfume... Olivia browsed through the auction item pamphlet. Noticing this, Dylan leaned in and murmured, “Is there anything you particularly like? I'll buy it for you."
But she didn't respond.
Ignoring his question, she didn't show any embarrassment but kept her focus away from him.
He hadn't been this close to her in a long while.
Eventually, Olivia shut the pamphlet and said calmly, “It's pointless, Dylan. I don't need anything. Just stop it!"
