Chapter: 4748
Having brushed against the edge of life and death, Olivia was ready to let go of the past and move forward.
She no longer held any hatred for Dylan.
However, she couldn't heal quickly, so she didn't want him wasting his time waiting for a possibility.
She knew all too well how difficult it was to wait for someone to come back.
Leaning against the bed, Dylan moved in close. Olivia tried to put some distance between them, but he wouldn't allow it. Gripping the back of her head, Dylan pulled her even closer.
He pressed his forehead against hers, forcing Olivia to lock eyes with him.
They were so close that Olivia could feel his breath warm against her face.
Dylan's voice trembled as he spoke. "I am willing to wait for you, Olivia!"
He was willing to wait for one year, two years, or even a decade.
No matter how long it took-even a lifetime-he would always be there for Olivia. It wasn't just about atoning for his past mistakes. It was because Olivia and the kids were the only ones he cared about in this world. His regret over what he had done was deep, but it was too late to change the past. Now, all he could do was try to make things right.
Olivia looked at him silently.
Olivia knew what was on Dylan's mind, and that only deepened her sadness.
If he truly felt remorseful, why had he been so heartless back then?
Tears streamed down her cheeks as memories of the past flooded her mind.
She hated crying, but perhaps it was the hormones or something else; she was overwhelmed with emotion in an instant.
"Don't cry, Olivia! Please, for heaven's sake!"
Dylan gently kissed away her tears, stopping himself from doing more to avoid making Olivia uncomfortable.
In her moment of utmost vulnerability, Olivia's voice quivered as she asked, “How did we end up like this, Dylan?"
What she really wanted to ask was why he had been so cruel to her and why he couldn't trust her back then.
But she was too embarrassed to say it out loud.
They were already divorced. They would have never seen each other again if it weren't for this baby.
Dylan never intended to hurt her so deeply.
Dylan's heart sank when he heard Olivia's words. He understood her pain all too well, for he carried the weight of his own self-loathing. The memory of seeing her wrapped in Raphael's embrace ignited a wildfire of jealousy within him, planting seeds of doubt and suspicion that now seemed painfully foolish.
He tenderly ran his fingers through Olivia's long hair, offering her comfort in a gentle tone.
