Chapter: 4762
Standing up, he offered his hand to her.
"I'll drive you back," he added.
But she remained seated, gazing up at her husband. With a steady yet trembling voice, she asked, “Raphael, I also want to know, do you have enough room for me in your heart now? Will the future you promise only be for us?"
Outside, the rain poured relentlessly.
His heart felt heavy, dampened by the downpour.
Silent, Raphael resumed his seat, allowing his wife to lean against his shoulder.
They sat in silence.
He sought to make amends for the past and promised to build a future with her.
Elissa's tone carried bitterness as she spoke to Raphael. "It's not about loving you, Raphael. It's more about fearing that I may never find such a connection with anyone else. I'm not inclined to alter the life we have now, so it's not exactly Love."
Her words were laden with emotion.
Raphael's response was gentle, quieter than the night itself.
"I understand. I do," he reassured her.
He pressed a gentle kiss on her hair and held her in his arms. They held each other silently as the night deepened, and he tenderly wrapped his jacket around her shoulders.
Elissa softly inquired if he felt cold.
He reassured her that he wasn't cold before inquiring if she felt sleepy. Elissa confirmed that she was.
Raphael took her home in the car.
Upon reaching the villa, they found the security guards absent, prompting Raphael to step out and open the gate himself. Elissa couldn't help but feel a twinge of sadness as she observed him.
Observing her expression, Raphael understood her thoughts as he returned to the car.
Leaning closer, he softly assured her, "I've endured much tougher challenges in the past... This is nothing."
Tenderly, he clasped her hand, his palm radiating warmth against her cold fingers.
They didn't talk about love, but their connection ran much deeper than mere love.
Even though Raphael was being almost self-destructive, there was a woman who really got him, understood him well, and was willing to stick around, even if she insisted she didn't do it because she loved him. In that moment, Raphael found her utterly adorable.
And in that same moment, he also felt a sudden sense of liberation.
He grasped why Olivia had fallen for Dylan. After all, falling in love could really happen in the blink of an eye. When people felt most vulnerable and sensitive, they tended to give their heart to someone they trusted.
