Chapter: 4768
Elissa began packing their belongings, readying for relocation.
As Elissa packed up the luggage, Raphael arrived.
Taking in the sight of the suitcases Elissa had packed, he asked, "Why don't you wait for me to pack these up together?"
After a pause, he continued, "That's all you have?"
Elissa answered lightly, “Yes, this is all!"
Raphael took another glance at her before heading to the walk-in closet.
Finding it empty, he turned back to Elissa and asked curiously, "Where in the world are your clothes?"
Women always cared about their looks and outfits, and Elissa, coming from a well-off family and owning many fancy outfits, should have had a closet full of them.
She walked over and closed the closet door, leaning against the furniture. In a low voice, she explained, "I can't wear those clothes after I got pregnant. After the baby is born, I'll Likely gain some weight, so they won't fit me anymore. I thought it better to sell them and make some money."
But Raphael knew it wasn't about the money.
The real reason she sold her clothes was the lack of space in their rented apartment; she had to part with most of her wardrobe.
Thinking of this, he couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for her.
In the end, he said nothing more. He simply helped Elissa carry the suitcases down the stairs.
Their ride was no longer a luxury car but a family van, much cheaper than what they used to have. After loading the luggage, Raphael helped Elissa into the back seat, closing the door behind her. He looked at her for a long moment.
Finally, he said softly, “Thank you, Elissa. Thank you for staying by my side."
Elissa could never fully grasp how much this meant to Raphael.
Without her and their baby, he could have lost the courage to rebuild his life, or worse, drifted into despair, numbing himself with alcohol.
But now, with Elissa and their unborn child, Raphael felt a renewed sense of purpose. He told himself he had to persevere.
After atoning for his mistakes, he needed to move forward with his life with his family.
Hearing his words, Elissa didn't reply. She just smiled faintly.
Raphael got into the car and took one Last glance at the villa through the rearview mirror. He had bought the house when he first returned to Duefron, but now, he was leaving it behind.
He vowed to himself that one day he would make a triumphant return with Elissa by his side.
Raphael promised he would provide the best life for Elissa and their child.
Elissa was pregnant, and with the baby due soon, Raphael wanted to make her as comfortable as possible.
