Chapter: 4848
After a moment, he set down his coffee and approached her. Tenderly, he enveloped her in a hug, reassuring her in a gentle tone, “It's all my fault. I won't let you down again.”
Olivia nestled against his chest.
The night was silent as they embraced each other, listening to the rain and wind beyond.
In the quiet moment, a servant knocked on the door and said, “Miss Evans, Mr. Wright, Mr. Evans is not feeling well and has a fever. The driver is bringing the car over to take him to the hospital."
Olivia was taken aback.
Dylan took her hand, pivoted, and addressed the servant outside, "We'll be there shortly."
Sensing the urgency, he whispered to Olivia, “Let's go. But I'll accompany your parents to the hospital. You stay home and look after the kids. I'll call you immediately if anything happens. Alright?"
Olivia looked up at him, and then after a brief pause, nodded. Dylan brushed away her tears and escorted her outside.
It was cold at night.
They hurried to the black limo in the courtyard. "I'll go with you. Olivia will stay at home with the kids," Dylan said to Cecilia as he opened the door.
Cecilia remained composed. She nodded before instructing Olivia to return indoors to avoid catching a cold.
As soon as she finished her words, Dylan nodded to Olivia outside the car. He then closed the door and instructed the driver, “Let's go."
Olivia stood in the dark for a moment before returning to her bedroom.
She was worried about her father, but she wasn't too afraid, because Dylan was there.
Edwin called her, asking, "How's Dad? Did he make it to the hospital?"
Olivia nodded. "Yes."
Edwin was relieved and asked, "Did Dylan go with Dad and Mom?"
She grunted in acknowledgment. Edwin fell silent for a while before speaking in a low voice, "We do need a man around the house. Please thank him for me."
Edwin empathized with Dylan's sentiments. Dylan remained in Czanch not solely for Olivia, but also out of a sense of duty.
He was determined to make amends for her sake.
Without Dylan's presence, Edwin would have had to rush back to Czanch that night to support his mother and sister. With Dylan here, he felt a lot of relief. At least Dylan could be there for them when things happened.
Olivia waited until midnight, when Dylan finally called. "It's acute gastritis. Your father's been given fluids intravenously. Everything's under control, Olivia. Get some rest. I'll be back in the morning."
Holding her phone tightly, she finally replied softly after a long pause, "Okay."
Even over the phone, he could sense her emotions.
