Chapter: 4942
"I want to marry you, not because of the PR crisis, but because I love you!"
Elva looked at him.
He had never seen her look so gentle and feminine.
He pulled her closer and softly touched her Lips.
He didn't deepen the kiss but then rubbed her nose with his.
There was a deep, indescribable intimacy between them.
After a while, he said in a husky voice, "I have to go now. It's getting late. I'll come with my parents another day. Also, are you free tomorrow?"
He wanted to ask her out for a real date.
Elva found herself with some spare time on her hands, yet she resisted the urge to be clingy.
Their relationship was unconventional, born out of an unexpected incident. Moreover, the shadows of past events lingered, altering her feelings and the way she interacted with Luis.
She paused, lost in thought, and Luis quickly grasped her sentiment.
He chose not to press her but instead suggested softly, "Maybe you should get some rest early."
Elva nodded in agreement.
She escorted him downstairs and to the front door. By now, Luis was almost fully alert. As he descended the stairs, he encountered Waylen, who was engrossed in the newspaper. Without looking up, Waylen asked nonchalantly, “Leaving now?"
Luis, maintaining his respect, replied, "I'll come and visit with my parents soon."
Waylen eyed him for a moment before chiding him affectionately, “You rascal!"
Despite the rebuke, Luis felt a comforting sense of belonging. He seized the moment to assure Waylen, “Don't worry, Mr. Fowler. I won't let Elva down."
Waylen seemed to want to respond but hesitated and ultimately remained silent.
After saying goodbye, Luis opened his car door and paused, turning to Elva. In a gentle tone, he asked, “Why did you suddenly agree to do this? I was sure you'd be upset with me for much longer."
The evening breeze tousled Elva's long hair, yet failed to obscure her stunning features.
