Chapter: 4943
She looked even more radiant at that moment.
Luis, unable to resist, drew her close and gently kissed her forehead.
He then whispered, "Have you forgiven me?"
Elva remained silent.
Truthfully, her anger had subsided, but the issue still pricked at her heart like a stubborn thorn, not easily dislodged. Perhaps, with some luck and years of a decent marriage, the sting of this memory might fade-but for now, it lingered.
Even without an answer from her, Luis’ temper was still in check. He retrieved the diamond ring from his pocket and attempted to slide it back onto her finger.
Elva resisted.
But Luis was persistent, soothing her with, "This ring is from a man who loves you and wants to marry you, not from the man you're meant to marry. Next time, I'll bring you one even grander!"
He playfully tweaked her nose and chided her for heeding Alexis' advice.
Elva said nothing, just gazed at him, feeling a sudden twinge of sadness... She sensed that Luis did care for her, yet she wished it had come sooner.
Tears welled in her eyes.
Luis' voice softened. “Elva, I truly am sorry. Actually..."
He had intended to tell her that his feelings for Holley had been a mere slip-up, nothing more. However, admitting that now would seem like a lame excuse, so he chose to remain silent and simply offered her comfort instead.
Elva turned away sharply. "I'm not so fragile!"
Luis playfully tapped her nose.
As dusk settled, the weather was perfect, marking one of their most cherished moments together after years of being in love. Previously, Luis had always been too caught up in his work to spend such quality time with her.
He thought to himself that this was actually quite wonderful!
Though Elva had not agreed to any date, Luis showed up at her doorstep the next morning, ready to whisk her away for a morning run.
It was still early, and Elva was barely awake.
A servant's voice echoed from the doorway. "Miss, Mr. Mendez is here. He insists on taking you for a run.”
