Chapter: 4956
Lifting her head with a serious expression, Elva said, "Whatever happened before, I've forgiven you. But as for the rest, it's up to the public. Whether they can forgive you and the Mendez Group is something we'll face together... Luis, I'm not sure how this will affect our relationship, but if you're asking whether I want to call off the wedding, the answer is no. However, if it becomes too much for you... You have the option to back out."
Upon hearing this, Luis embraced her tightly and murmured, “Marrying me could prolong this ordeal... I'm bracing for the worst, even if it means resigning from my position."
Just then, Elva's assistant burst in, visibly panicked.
“Miss Fowler, there's a situation! A woman named Holley has revealed her chat logs with... She plans to hold a press conference to disclose her affair with Mr. Mendez."
Upon hearing this, Elva turned to Luis and asked, "So... where shall we have dinner tonight?"
Luis gazed intently at Elva.
After a moment, he realized she was serious. He tenderly draped an arm around her shoulders and suggested, "How about we head home and stay in for dinner tonight?"
However, both of them were aware that dinner together was impossible that evening.
As they approached the door of the studio, a throng of about a hundred reporters awaited them, eager for the latest scoop. The moment the couple stepped outside, the reporters swarmed in front of Elva, thrusting their microphones close to her lips. Their inquiries were piercing and rude.
"Miss Fowler, will you reconsider your marriage to Mr. Mendez?"
"Miss Fowler, has Mr. Mendez been unfaithful to you?"
“Miss Fowler, do you ever have regrets?"
Luis stepped in to shield Elva from the barrage. He didn't want the press to bother her. He himself was the one to blame for the situation, not her.
Yet Elva didn't retreat.
She even nudged him aside slightly, facing the reporters squarely and spoke calmly. “Before I address your questions, I have one for Miss Diaz. Was she aware that Luis was not single back then? If so, she's hardly a victim. As for my marriage plans with Luis, that is strictly my affair and unrelated to his past with Holley. I haven't deceived anyone in this relationship. If you seek details, I suggest you speak with Luis and Holley."
She made a valid argument.
Who dared to reduce her to merely a pretty face?
After her declaration, Elva turned to Luis and said softly, "Looks like we can't have dinner tonight. Luis, you'll need to handle this on your own."
She chose not to criticize him in his moment of vulnerability.
She didn't end their relationship.
