Chapter: 4955
Before Elva could respond, Luis chimed in again, “You know what? Let's head home for dinner! The restaurants are probably packed right now."
Elva nodded in agreement and continued with her makeup removal at a leisurely pace.
With her makeup gone, she appeared even younger than her actual age.
Perhaps it was because her family had coddled her since childhood, Elva didn't possess the worldly air typical of those in the entertainment industry.
But that didn't mean Elva was naive.
Luis was never one to show up unexpectedly. He always scheduled their meetings in advance... It was just unlike him to pop up like this.
They had been getting along quite well lately, but still, sudden visits were not his usual way.
She suspected Luis was wrestling with something internally, though she chose not to call him out on it.
Just after she had wiped off her makeup, intending to change her clothes, the makeup artist and the assistant silently exited the room, leaving Luis behind.
Casually leaning against the dresser, Elva glanced at him, her long legs partially revealed beneath her sheer robe.
She then addressed Luis, "You know, after some women get married, they don't even shut the bathroom door around their husbands. But Luis, I'm not one of those women, and let's not forget, we aren't even married..."
It was clear she was prompting him to leave.
But upon hearing her words, Luis chuckled lightly. Rather than departing, he stepped closer and embraced her gently, and then leaned down to kiss her. As he did, his hand stealthily slipped beneath her robe...
To be honest, Luis had a way about him-his charm, his way with words-it was nearly impossible for any woman to resist such allure. Elva was no different, yet she wasn't swept away by mere attraction. She sensed that something was bothering Luis, so she lifted her gaze and asked softly, “What's wrong, Luis?"
Luis paused, his hesitation palpable, before he shared that Holley had asked him to do something he wasn't comfortable with. He feared the consequences if Holley decided to go to the media. His eyes locked on Elva's as he continued, “If things go south, we might have to call off the wedding. I don't want you getting dragged into this mess!"
Elva was taken aback.
It wasn't hard to guess the kind of secrets Holley might spill. The thought sent a shiver down her spine. Quickly regaining her composure, she looked at Luis and said, "So, you came here to test me?"
“Absolutely not! I just needed to see you," Luis replied quietly.
Faced with an impending crisis, Luis didn't want Elva caught in the crossfire, hounded by the press with intrusive questions. He loved her deeply and was determined to shield her from any harm.
Elva fell silent, mulling over his words.
