Chapter: 1553
Never had she felt so mortified, and she was uncertain about how to navigate the fallout from this debacle.
Desperate, she repeatedly dialed Holden's number, but each attempt went unanswered. Frustrated, she dialed Zayden instead, who, with impatience, answered, "What's up now? Haven't you had your fill?"
Recalling Zayden leaving her earlier, Sadie's anger flared, her voice thick with disbelief as she shot back, "How dare you give me that attitude? Who gave you the right to leave me stranded like that?"
Zayden remained unfazed, his tone cold as he replied, “You brought this upon yourself by being careless! If you hadn't messed up, Holden wouldn't have found out. You've got only yourself to blame!"
"What did you just say?" Sadie's emotions surged uncontrollably, and she exclaimed, "If you hadn't provoked me from the start, I wouldn't be in this mess! And that medication? Did you or did you not deceive me?"
Zayden brushed off her words, showing little interest. Annoyed, he retorted, "The medication didn't harm you. If you had handled things discreetly and kept Holden in the dark, we wouldn't be in this predicament now."
"So, you're washing your hands of this, huh?" Sadie seethed, teeth clenched with resentment. “Mark my words, it won't be easy for you, either!"
Unwilling to entertain her outburst, Zayden replied dismissively, "Fine, I've heard enough. If that's all, I'm hanging up."
Just as he was about to end the call, he heard Sadie sobbing loudly, confessing, “You can't ignore me like this. I'm carrying your child!"
Zayden was taken aback, his eyes widening in disbelief. He was momentarily speechless, struggling to find words.
After a while, he regained his composure and asked, "My child? Are you sure?"
Sadie, a mix of anger and sadness, cried. “Holden never touched me!
I was only with you. Whose child could it be if not yours? You can't just walk away from this!"
Hearing her words, Zayden reclined on the sofa, a headache creeping in. He cursed the consequences of getting involved with Sadie.
What a mess!
Gradually, Sadie calmed down. Sniffling, she said, "Since we're here, we're in this together. I can help you achieve what you want."
"How?" Zayden found it hard to believe.
Sadie collected herself and said, "Holden believes I'm Adele's mother.
Plus, he can't be sure if this child is his. He was drunk that night.
I can get close to him again when the chance arises.”
