Chapter: 1740
As Mitchel slowly made his way towards the door, Marlowe's ears perked up at the noise coming from downstairs. Instantly, she became anxious.

It must be her grandfather coming back!

It turned out she had guessed right. The next second, she heard Granger's voice.

In a state of panic, Marlowe frantically reached out for Mitchel, who was already struggling to stand due to his injured foot. As she tugged at his arm, he lost his balance and toppled backwards, unable to regain his footing.

Marlowe instinctively reached out to catch him, but she failed to consider the significant size difference between them. As a result, Mitchel came crashing down on top of her, turning her into a human cushion as the full weight of his body pressed down on her. Marlowe closed her eyes as she slipped and felt the soft brush of something touching her lips.

Shocked, Marlowe quickly opened her eyes. Mitchel's face was barely a few inches away from hers, and his lips were pressed against hers.

At that moment, the two people fell into an awkward silence.

For a few seconds, Marlowe's mind went blank. It took her some time to realize what had happened. In a state of panic, she hurriedly pushed Mitchel away.

Mitchel winced in pain.

Hearing Mitchel let out a pained groan, Marlowe immediately knew she had pushed him with too much force just now. Feeling guilty, she was about to offer an apology when she noticed the crimson fluid seeping through the bandages wrapped around his shoulder.

His wound was bleeding once again. Seeing the blood, Marlowe felt even more guilty. She wanted to grab the first-aid kit at once before remembering it was downstairs. Standing next to Mitchel and unsure of what to do, Marlowe asked anxiously, “Are... Are you okay?"

Before Mitchel could say anything, the sound of footsteps, followed by Granger's voice, came from the staircase. “Marlowe, what are you doing?"

Marlowe quickly shouted, "Nothing! I'll be down in a bit!"

She subtly signaled to Mitchel to remain quiet. Then, she deliberately said in a threatening tone, “Stay put and keep quiet!"

After saying that, she hurried out to meet her grandfather.

After persuading her grandfather to head back downstairs, Marlowe discreetly grabbed a fresh set of bandages. She moved cautiously back to her room upstairs.

When she returned upstairs, Mitchel was still sitting on the floor, leaning weakly against the wall. The bandages on his shoulder were crimson red due to the blood seeping from the reopened wound.

Seeing him in such a pitiful state, Marlowe's heart softened. "How are you feeling? Are you feeling pain anywhere else? Let me know if you're hurting anywhere else, and I'll get you some medicine," she said softly.

"I'm fine," Mitchel said blandly, before struggling to get up again.

"No, you can't go out now," Marlowe exclaimed urgently, pushing him back down. "My grandfather's back, and he's in the living room. He can't see you yet. Wait until he goes to rest, then you can leave."
