Chapter: 1743
Curious, he picked it up and looked at it. The photo captured a joyful moment between a girl and her grandfather, both beaming with bright, warm smiles.

The glass-door wooden cabinet held many books and snacks. Beside it stood a wooden wardrobe, and a pot of green plants thrived in the corner, seemingly well cared for by the girl.

Beside the bed, there was an open cabinet displaying a collection of dolls. Positioned behind the cabinet, there sat a desk near the window.

Despite the heavy rain outside, the room felt warm and comforting. At that moment, Mitchel's anxiety lessened a bit.

After a while, Marlowe hurriedly swung the door open.

Mitchel glanced up and spotted Marlowe, soaked from the rain. As she quietly gathered her clothes and entered the room, she couldn't resist grumbling, "The rain outside is pouring. It's frustrating that there wasn't any warning about this heavy rain beforehand."

While talking, she removed her raincoat and placed it by the door.

Observing this, Mitchel asked, "What did you do?"

With an eye roll, Marlowe took out her phone from her pocket and gave it to Mitchel. "What else can I do? I went to charge the phone bill. Here you are."

Mitchel didn't grab the phone right away. Instead, he frowned and noticed the noticeable bloodstain on Marlowe's lower calf.

Looking at the blood on her calf, he said, "You're bleeding."

Marlowe glanced at her calf and shrugged, saying casually, “The rain's really pouring out there. Couldn't see properly, and I got nicked by some wire. It's fine. Don't you want to call someone? Hurry up."

Mitchel took the phone.

Just as the phone was about to be switched on, Marlowe leaned in to lend a hand.

The moment she turned on her phone, a bunch of messages flooded her chat app.

"What happened? You haven't replied to me for so long!"

“Marlowe, are you okay? I can't reach you. Milly said you're okay, but I'm still concerned. Don't forget to call me when you read these messages."

“Honey, how are you doing these days? Is everything fine with you?"

Marlowe scrolled through messages from her concerned friends; they were all wondering why Marlowe had suddenly disappeared and where she had gone.

The last message was from her best friend.
