Chapter: 1768
She looked at Mitchel in confusion, hoping to get an explanation.
Mitchel was silent for a while. When he opened his mouth to say something, a mouthful of food was stuffed into his mouth. Then, Holden whispered through clenched teeth, “Nod if you like it.”
Mitchel could only nod.
Ariana looked at them strangely and said, "Fine!"
Then, she sat down on the sofa nearby. After a while, Holden finally finished feeding Mitchel.
After feeding Mitchel, Holden asked the nurse to put away the rest of the food. Ariana sat on the edge of the bed and handed an apple to Mitchel. The latter took it and chatted with Ariana while eating.
Ariana told Mitchel what they had found out these past few days. "We found out that Zayden was the person behind this. He came for me and Holden. We didn't expect you to be implicated."
Mitchel shook his head and said, “It's okay. It's not your fault. I chose to chase after you myself."
Despite Mitchel's words, Ariana still felt very guilty. She continued, “Now we plan to wait until Zayden took the bait. Then, we will deal with him."
Mitchel nodded. Then, he and Ariana talked about Melon, caring about Melon's and Ariana's health.
Holden sat on the sofa nearby and dealt with two work messages. When he saw Mitchel and Ariana chatting happily, he became increasingly unhappy. So, he put away his phone and walked to them. “Do you want to play games?" he asked.
Mitchel remained silent, but Ariana's eyes lit up at the mention of a game. "Yes, please!" she chirped. "But we're stuck in a hospital room. What kind of game can we even play?"
"UNO," Holden declared, standing up and rummaging through a nearby drawer. "Loser gets a note on their face, one at a time."
“Sure, no problem," Ariana replied confidently, but then expressed her confusion. “But there are no cards here."
“There are." Holden grinned and retrieved the cards from a drawer, placing them in front of Mitchel and Ariana.
Ariana exclaimed in surprise, "How on earth are there cards in the ward?"
“Let's just say this place is more than meets the eye," Holden said with a wink.
Mercy Hospital's superior ward was practically a five-star hotel suite, complete with all the amenities one could imagine.
“Really?” Ariana echoed, a skeptical eyebrow raised. This was her first time in the hospital's superior ward. As far as she knew, the main differences from a standard room were size and a private bathroom. She had never bothered exploring the drawers, though.
A playful glint flickered in Holden's eyes as Ariana asked, “Any chance there's some wine in there, too?"
