Chapter: 1796
His room was spotless, as though someone had recently cleaned it.

Ariana stood frozen, her eyes wide, taking in the immaculate room.

Amidst their exploration of the rest of the mansion, this particular room appeared conspicuously pristine, starkly contrasting with the rest.

Despite the mansion's general dusty odor, this room emitted a pleasant fragrance, and the bedding appeared recently washed. It gave the impression of not having been vacant for an extended period. The desk, too, bore no signs of dust, hinting at regular maintenance.

“What's happening here?" Holden and Ariana asked simultaneously, their bewilderment palpable.

They exchanged a puzzled look, and after a momentary pause, Holden inquired, “Could there be any surveillance cameras?"

"It appears this place has been abandoned for years. Even if there were cameras, they'd Likely be non-functional by now," Ariana replied, shaking her head.

They lapsed into silence once more, left speechless by the impeccably clean room.

They entered the room and searched for any potential clues left behind by the person who had cleaned it.

They meticulously combed through the room but discovered nothing noteworthy. Everything remained exactly as Holden had left it-no items missing or added, just remarkably tidy.

Failing to find any leads in this room, they proceeded to investigate other parts of the mansion, hoping to find cleaned rooms that could provide clues.

They headed up to the fourth floor, to what used to be Marley's room.

As she approached the door, Ariana's stomach tightened. Observing Holden's movement towards it, she debated internally whether to steer him in another direction. Yet, she hesitated, concerned that any unusual behavior might attract unwanted attention.

Holden tried to push the door open, but it was firmly locked.

Ariana breathed a sigh of relief.

Holden turned back to Ariana and inquired, "What room is this?"

“It's just an old storage room. We probably can't even find the key anymore, and there's nothing worth seeing inside," Ariana replied.

Holden nodded, then asked, "Didn't Helen also live here before? Which room was hers?"

“This way." Ariana quickly led Holden away from Marley's room to Helen's room.

Helen's room was empty, pretty much cleared out except for a few lingering items of clothing.
