Chapter: 1811
Before long, the internet chatter turned in Ariana's favor, with netizens defending her.
Sadie, who had been monitoring the online sentiment closely, seethed with frustration when she witnessed the shift.
She angrily tossed her phone aside.
Damn it! How had Ariana kept getting away with this? Why was she so lucky?
With a scowl, Sadie gripped the bedsheets tightly. Just then, a knock sounded at the door, followed by Devin's voice from outside.
It wasn't until then that Sadie's demeanor softened, and she told Devin to come in.
Once Devin entered, Sadie gently rubbed her belly and inquired with a smile, “Where is Adele? Why hasn't she returned?"
Devin cast a glance at her and replied, "Mr. Fredrick took her away. I'm here to collect Adele's belongings."
Upon hearing this, Sadie prepared to get out of bed and stated, "I'll come with you. Adele's been attached to me lately. She'll cry if she doesn't see me."
Devin's expression turned grim. He spoke vaguely. "Mr. Fredrick will look after Adele. She'll be fine. Miss Pierre, it's best for you to stay in the hospital and focus on your health. You won't have to concern yourself with Adele's matters from now on."
Sadie, who had been preparing to leave her bed, froze in shock. She lifted her head to meet Devin's gaze. "What do you mean by that? What do you mean when you say I shouldn't concern myself with Adele's matters? I'm Adele's mother!"
Devin looked at Sadie with a faint smile and said, "I mean it literally."
After saying that, he gathered Adele's things. Then, he turned to Sadie again. "Miss Pierre, please have a good rest.”
With that, he left.
Now that Devin was gone, Sadie took some time to calm down. She sat back on the bed, but her face was still pale. She subconsciously clenched the bed sheet tightly as a bad feeling surged in her heart.
She still couldn't figure out what Devin meant by what he had just said.
Lying in the hospital bed, Sadie pondered Devin's words. But the more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt.
In the end, she decided to call Holden to ask him about that directly. However, she couldn't get through. It turned out Holden had blocked her number.
Sadie's expression changed for a moment. She tried calling him again but got the same result.
This time, a sense of fear slowly crept into her heart. Her hands trembled uncontrollably. But she did her best to open Holden's social media account to send him a message. She found that she was also blocked there.
