Chapter: 1946
Bennett's smile remained, not showing the slightest hint of discomfort at Ariana's attitude.
But those who knew him understood that the wider he grinned, the less he was enjoying himself.
Even his dogs picked up on it; they stopped panting and just sat there, not making a sound.
Ariana sensed the shift in the mood, aware that Bennett was getting angry, but she felt she had had enough.
Since she arrived here, she had never been in a good mood. She had never been treated like this before, always teased like a monkey in a circus.
She knew this wasn't the time to push further, but she swore to herself she would get back at Bennett when the opportunity came.
In her head, she had already slapped Bennett a dozen times. She took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down, then smiled and said, "No, it's just that you didn't ask what I like. None of these dishes appeal to me. Is this how you treat your guests?"
Bennett's face relaxed, and he laughed. "My bad. I should've checked what you'd enjoy."
He then motioned to a servant. “Bring her the menu."
The servant nodded and quickly left.
A menu?
This was his place, not a restaurant. Why was there a menu?
Ariana raised an eyebrow, still smiling but now with a hint of suspicion.
It wasn't long before the servant returned with a menu. Ariana opened it and was taken aback.
The menu was just like a restaurant menu, with pictures, dish names, and detailed descriptions of ingredients and textures.
No prices were listed, but the fancy ingredients made it clear about their high cost.
Ariana shot a glance at Bennett and, without missing a beat, ordered every lavish and pricey dish on the menu.
Bennett said nothing, watching as Ariana made her selection. Once she was done, he gave a nod to the servants to clear away the current plates.
Soon enough, a lavish array of delicacies was served, each dish crafted with the finest ingredients as promised on the menu.
Ariana observed the lavish feast laid out before her, acknowledging that she couldn't possibly consume it all. Nonetheless, she remained composed on the surface, exuding a calm and detached aura.
