Chapter: 1987
Seeing her like this, Bennett felt resigned.
Holden was just more handsome than him. Why did she favor Holden so firmly?
Hadn't he treated her well all this time? Why couldn't she acknowledge that? Why couldn't she Like him instead?
Besides, why should Holden be the recipient of such profound love from a woman, not him?
Overwhelmed by envy and jealousy, Bennett hoarsely inquired, “What are you staring at?"
"You were with them when the accident happened. How did you end up here?" Ariana asked sharply.
"I got lucky," Bennett remarked, bitterness lacing his tone. "I was luckier than them, so I'm here admiring the scenery, whereas they became nothing but scraps of flesh."
Ariana remained silent but continued to examine Bennett's injuries closely.
His injuries appeared severe; otherwise, he wouldn't have endured her repeated kicks without fighting back.
It appeared he had engaged in a significant altercation before ending up here.
Bennett surely hadn't accidentally fallen off a cliff, nor had he managed to evade Holden and Adrian effortlessly. It was probable they had all tumbled together, with Bennett being fortunate enough to have his fall cushioned by the bushes, which had saved his life.
With the situation somewhat clarified, Ariana resolved to continue her search.
Initially lacking much hope, she now felt prepared to confront whatever lay ahead, thanks to a clear objective.
Armed with her gun, Ariana adjusted her backpack and rose to her feet, prepared to resume her quest for Holden and Adrian down the cliff.
"Are you leaving?" Bennett inquired, quickly grabbing her.
"That's none of your concern," Ariana retorted, kicking off his hand.
"You can stay here and wait for your death."
Bennett struggled to move his body to follow her, but he soon realized it was futile.
Observing her resolute departure, a wave of concern flooded Bennett, prompting him to speak up. “In fact, it does concern me. You won't be able to get out of here without me."
When Ariana heard that, she paused for a brief moment, stunned, but she quickly recovered and shot back coldly, “You think I'm going to fall for that crap?"
