Chapter: 2014
This question sparked another thought in Ariana's mind.
“Why did he leave?" she asked. “A mad scientist like him would usually get mad if his subjects tried to escape, wouldn't he?"
“Who knows? It's better for us that he's gone," Adrian replied, his attention shifting back to the keypad.
Their goal was clear: they needed to escape and find Holden. Ariana understood this.
Adrian punched in codes repeatedly without success until, suddenly, the keypad chirped a triumphant sound.
"The password's unlocked!" Ariana cried out, a wave of relief washing over her.
Her relief, however, was fleeting. A mechanical voice from the door soon echoed. “Facial recognition activated."
Ariana was stunned.
Facial recognition too?
"Damn it!" Adrian exclaimed, his frustration boiling over.
No wonder the scientist had just left them there; he knew they couldn't escape.
The situation had come to a dead end.
Ariana and Adrian were seated on the floor, cross-legged. Ariana hung her head in silence, while Adrian let out a deep sigh.
Their attempt to decipher the facial recognition had failed. Now, they were trying to figure out their next steps, but the discussion seemed to lead nowhere.
"The only way might be..." Adrian broke the long silence suddenly.
Ariana, who had been looking down, sensed he might have an idea, so she raised her head, looking at him with hopeful eyes.
Adrian then shared his thought. He wanted to go to that middle-aged man.
"We could somehow unlock the password by chance, but face recognition would definitely not work. We have no choice but to have him do it,"
Adrian explained.
“Wow, that's a brilliant idea!" Ariana smiled sarcastically and applauded Adrian's suggestion. "Do you think that's possible? You forgot why we are here. That man caught us. How could he possibly let us escape?"
