Chapter: 2019
Yet, for Ariana and Adrian, the food might as well have been tasteless wax.
Ariana, who had cooked the dishes, felt no desire to eat now. She just wanted to leave as soon as possible and find Holden.
Moss, however, was not inclined to let them go and even threatened them with their Lives.
Thus, the trio ate in silence for over ten minutes.
Having finished his meal first, Moss wiped his mouth with a white handkerchief and said to Ariana and Adrian in a soft tone, “There are rooms on B4. You can sleep there tonight. Have a good rest.”
As he made to leave, Ariana quickly stopped him. She said, “Earlier, you mentioned our noise was spoiling your appetite. Now that you're done eating, could we possibly resume our discussion about the terms of us leaving?"
Ariana softened her voice, aware that Moss was reluctant to let them go. “If twenty million isn't sufficient, I'm prepared to offer thirty, or even more. Just name your price, and we'll transfer the money to you once we're out of here."
Despite Ariana's repeated offers, Moss lacked the patience to keep declining.
He disregarded her proposals outright and said, “I suggest you take a good rest and try to relax. Don't be scared. Get ready for the experiment tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to it. It's been a long time since I found such a perfect candidate like you. I have a strong feeling that I'll succeed soon!"
His voice held a mix of excitement and madness.
Confused by his words, Ariana asked, “What do you mean by that?"
His words made the matter sound like organ transplantation or something.
Ariana's mind raced to dark possibilities, and instinctively, she glanced toward the door, contemplating escape.
However, Moss blocked her path.
Her panic mounting, Ariana looked up to see Moss' expression turn stern. He coldly warned Ariana and Adrian, "Don't even think about escaping. It's futile. You won't leave this place without my permission. While I'm still in a pleasant mood, finish your meal and then go rest."
After saying that, Moss stretched out his hand to touch Ariana.
But Adrian quickly stepped forward, shielding Ariana with his body.
“I'll go first," he urgently offered, hoping to spare Ariana from the impending experiment. “Perhaps I am just as suitable for your experiment."
Taking a disdainful glance at Adrian, Moss pinched his nose and firmly stated, "You cannot do that. You're a man, and you smell."
"What?" Adrian, perplexed, countered, "Aren't you a man, too?"
