Chapter: 2075
It was then that the nurses finally noticed her.
One nurse, clearly alarmed, said, "This is creepy; she has completely lost it."
Upon hearing this, Sadie halted her laughter, rose to her feet, and marched directly towards the two nurses. "Once I get out, I'll kill Ariana first. Then, I'll kill you two," she declared, her chin held high in defiance.
Although the nurses were aware that Sadie couldn't leave, they were still seized by fear, especially the one who had earlier mocked Sadie.
A chill of dread ran down her spine.
The nurses exchanged no further words and hurriedly pushed the medicine cart away, eager to distance themselves from Sadie.
Three days later, the weather had turned dreary.
Ariana still exhibited no signs of awakening, plunging Holden into deep worry.
He badgered the doctors at Mercy Hospital by day to accelerate their analysis of the enigmatic substance and spent his sleepless nights at Ariana's bedside.
Meanwhile, Adrian oscillated between clarity and hallucinations.
Thankfully, his periods of lucidity were becoming more frequent, making Jennifer slightly relieved.
Out in the hallway, Sonia, despite her injuries, was navigating her rounds in a wheelchair.
Initially, Adrian had yanked her hair; subsequently, he had inflicted severe injuries to her back and abdomen, necessitating several days in the hospital.
After that, she had almost recovered. It was just that standing for a long time would still cause her discomfort.
Despite this, she wanted to do something. Ever since Ariana and Adrian were admitted, she had made it a point to visit both of their rooms daily. However, she faced two challenges: One, maintaining extreme vigilance in Adrian's room to avoid another violent episode during his hallucinations. And two, dealing with her unreliable motorized wheelchair, which frequently malfunctioned and failed to brake.
Grumbling about her wheelchair, Sonia took a turn too sharply around a corridor corner, lost control, and crashed directly into someone's leg.
"Ouch!" Sonia exclaimed, her hand flying to her sore nose.
The man she had run into frowned and said, "No apology?"
Looking up, Sonia was about to offer an apology, but upon recognizing it was Maxwell, she stopped herself from apologizing and went on the offensive instead.
"You're like a walking jinx, and now, it seems your bad luck is contaminating me. I can't even navigate my wheelchair without stumbling into trouble." Sonia snorted and said, "You're here constantly, Mr. Big Boss. Is the company falling apart now? If that happens, I'll soon be poached by another company as the lead reporter!"
