Despite her best efforts, the horse continued to hurtle toward the wall.
Brian had to save Eleanor from embarrassment in front of outsiders.
She had come here to help Hughes Group. He couldn't just leave her by herself.
With much reluctance, he walked over to Eleanor, intending to help her mount the horse.
But before he could do so, a loud cry erupted from the racecourse. Instinctively, he turned his head to the sound, his eyes widening at the sight of Rosalynn’s horse running wildly.
Fear coursed through his veins. Abandoning his initial goal of helping Eleanor, Brian mounted a horse and galloped toward Rosalynn.
Rosalynn was tugging at the reins, trying to stop the frenzied horse, but to no avail.
Why had the horse gone rabid?
"Rosalynn! Hold onto the reins. Lean back and step hard on the stirrup!"
Brian's voice called from behind.
He was fighting to keep his tone calm, but slight tremors escaped him.
Rosalynn did as he had instructed, but the horse kept on running uncontrollably.
"I can't! It's not stopping!" Rosalynn shouted. Her face turned pale as the horse ran straight, coming closer and closer to the wall.
Her eyes fell on the bracelet on her left wrist. In a fit of intuition, she quickly took out a silver needle from the bracelet and pricked the neck of the horse.
The animal neighed, its four hooves rising from the ground.
Rosalynn leaned back from the movement.
‘She was going to fall!
The dazzling sunlight burned her eyes, forcing them close.
Rosalynn held her breath, waiting for the inevitable impact of her body hitting hard earth.
But the foreseen moment never arrived. She felt warm arms wrap around her body, a familiar scent engulfing her.
The next second, her body was being lifted and carried.
At the absence of perceived danger, Rosalynn finally opened her eyes, her gaze meeting Brian's.
