Chapter: 135
Worry was written all over his face.
Once again, Brian had saved her from certain harm.
His breath was still heavy.
Tightening his arms around Rosalynn, he said in a low voice, "You're safe now. It's alright."
Rosalynn's heart hammered violently in her chest. She didn't know if it was because of fear or the uncharacteristic gentleness of his voice as he spoke to her.
Unthinkingly, her hands tightened on his clothes, and she couldn't find words to answer him.
The spell was broken by the sound of horses’ hooves growing louder. Chaz and his wife had come, along with some others.
"Are you okay?" Dayana dismounted from her horse with the help of her husband. Her face was lined with worry.
“We're alright." Brian helped Rosalynn off the horse.
“What's going on? Why did Rosalynn's horse suddenly go wild?"
Envy filled Eleanor as she watched Brian carefully assist Rosalynn as she got down.
She didn't understand how Rosalynn's horse suddenly made a mad dash. Part of her was convinced that Rosalyn did it to get Brian's attention.
And it had worked perfectly. Brian ran to her rescue, which was as good as saying that he cared about her.
The trainer checked Rosalynn's horse as they looked on, waiting for his evaluation.
"The horse may be in heat. It's probably why it had suddenly acted out of control."
The trainer ran a soothing hand over the restless horse as he explained the situation.
"But it's not time for the horse to be in heat yet, is it?” Merrick asked suspiciously.
"You are right, but there are many possible triggers for it and | can't be sure what caused it.”
"Check the rest of the horses. Don't let anything unexpected happen again," Chaz ordered sternly.
The trainer immediately did as he was told and checked every horse. Fortunately, no other problems were found.
“It was a good thing that Brian was able to save you just now, Rosalynn. That would have been a heavy fall." Arya looked at Rosalynn coldly.
Rosalynn took a look at her and nodded.
