Chapter: 261
Brian's eyes narrowed dangerously.
“And why did you do that?"
“Here is the thing."
Eleanor braced herself. She had already played this scene repeatedly in her head, and had prepared the words she was going to say.
“A fan posted online that you bought a set of limited edition jewelry as a gift for me. I've been waiting all this time, but you never gave it to me, so I assumed that it must be for someone else. Well, you know how it is in the entertainment circle. The people here do not dare to touch me as long as I have your support. If they somehow catch wind that you have a new girlfriend, who knows what will happen to me?"
She paused and let out a sigh of lament.
“I was just so worried about the uncertainty of my future, so I came up with this idea. I want to be famous and rise to the top as soon as possible. That way, you would be fulfilling your promise to me sooner, too."
She had injected enough hint of helplessness in her tone, and if one didn't know any better, they would think that she had done everything for Brian's sake.
Brian's gaze darkened and became unreadable.
“Never wear it again. If you want to be a top celebrity, you should work hard on your acting skills. Don't even think about resorting to such tricks again in the future."
Eleanor nodded.
“Of course. I understand.”
“You may Leave now." Brian waved a hand dismissively, signaling for her to get out of the car.
Eleanor blinked at him and didn't budge from her seat.
“May I ask who the real recipient of the jewelry is?"
Had he given it to Rosalynn?
"It's none of your business. Leave."
Brian didn't even glance up at her again.
But Eleanor already felt certain that the jewelry was intended for
Rosalynn.
After all, Brian wasn't involved in any romantic rumors with other women lately.
She couldn't think of anyone else besides Rosalynn.
