Rosalynn told Maggie to go and order whatever she liked, then she trudged over to where Brian was.

“What can I do for you?" she asked.

Brian stood from his desk and padded over to the small dining area in his office.

“Come and have lunch with me."

What? Did he just ask her to have a meal with him?

Rosalynn scowled.

“No, thank you. I've already ordered takeout.”

“Come here. Or would you rather that I feed you in front of your colleagues?"

Brian plopped down on one of the chairs and smiled at her, his eyes brimming with obvious affection.

After heaving a helpless sigh, Rosalynn begrudgingly went to join him.

Several dishes were laid out on the table, all from a famous restaurant.

"I have no idea what you like to eat, so I took the Liberty of ordering a wide variety. Just eat whatever you like, and tell me which ones you don't like, so that I can avoid them next time."

Rosalynn took a deep breath and decided to clear things up once and for all.

“I-"

“This soup is refreshing. Try some."

Brian proceeded to fill a bowl with the soup and handed it to Rosalynn.

She stared at him with narrowed eyes for one brief moment before slowly taking the bowl.

Seemingly encouraged by her action, Brian smiled even wider. He then plucked bits of the dishes and piled them on her plate.

Rosalynn ate quietly, and for a long while, no one said anything.

Just as they were finishing up, Brian wiped his lips with a napkin and asked, "How was it? Is the food to your Liking?"
