Chapter: 94
Rosalynn sneered at the man in utter disdain.
His eyelids fluttered open, but the moment his eyes met hers, he curled himself into a ball.
They stared at each other for a while, and when the man finally realized that she wasn't going to rain any more attacks on him, he clambered to his feet and stumbled out of the alley.
Rosalynn took deep, even breaths to calm herself. Her fingers loosened around the pole, and it fell on the ground with a dull thud.
"Miss, thank you for what you did."
The girl's voice jolted Rosalynn back to her senses. She turned to study the person she had just saved.
The girl looked about eighteen years old, her eyes filled with unshed tears.
"Are you all right?" Rosalynn asked in a gentle voice.
"Yes." The girl nodded.
Just then, an anxious voice came from the streets outside.
"Alice, where are you?"
"Over here!"
Relief washed over the girl's face as she ran toward the end of the alley and into the arms of a young man.
Rosalynn couldn't help but purse her lips at the sight of their reunion.
She closed her eyes and tried to block out images that suddenly flashed in her mind. She had to take several more breaths to regain her composure after that.
"You saved my sister. Thank you very much.”
The young man took the girl's hand and pulled her back to stand in front of Rosalyn.
"You're welcome."
“Are you here on a trip? Alice says that the man who assaulted her is a notorious thug in this area. He is a member of an underground organization. They might make things difficult for you during your stay. Please be careful from now on."
The young man's brows furrowed with genuine worry.
"| see,” Rosalynn replied with a faint smile. "I'll keep that in mind. Thank you for your concern."
The siblings thanked her once more before running off.
Rosalynn heaved a deep sigh, straightened her clothes and gathered her stuff, then walked away as well.
She continued down the lively street until she found a roadside stall. She plopped down on an empty stool and ordered some food.
She had completely calmed down by then, and ate the food with much interest. There certainly was a curious taste to the local cuisine.
