Chapter: 1096
Darren immediately had the microphone placed under his nose. Vivian, meanwhile, was heartbroken and deflated.
Darren stood up, microphone in hand, and said directly, “I'm pretty decent at playing a game called Wasteland. The background story is that humans are discovered and invaded by an extraterrestrial civilization!
So my question is: how can we prevent the naive human civilization from being discovered by aliens, until we have the strength to fight them?"
Vivian despised Darren on hearing this. It was hearing him say ‘Wasteland’ that had done it.
She thought his comments showed his immaturity.
But his question had stunned her.
The naive human civilization?
How could it not be discovered by the extraterrestrial civilization? Vivian had no idea how she would even begin to try and answer this question.
"Good question!"
Professor Lee gave Darren a thumbs up.
What the professor said next though, shocked everyone.
“But I can't answer your question!”
Professor Lee shrugged casually.
Everyone understood after a few moments of stunned silence.
How to prevent the Earth from being discovered by other civilizations in the universe?
It was obvious that the answer to that profound question could not be given flippantly at such a meeting.
Suddenly, the man who had been sitting quietly until now beside Professor Lee, stood up.
The director and others knew that this man's surname was Newman and that he was at the same level as Chaz.
Gary picked up the microphone during the confusion and said to Maria calmly, "I hope you'll be the one to answer this question someday."
The production team didn't actually know Gary's true identity.
They just knew that he was a big shot in the academic world like Chaz. Just now, they'd overheard Chaz refer to him as Dean Newman but they didn't know which school at the Broome University he was in charge of.
After Gary had spoken, all those present except for Gary's colleagues were shocked and confused.
They began to look with suspicion upon Maria.
Who was she?
