Chapter: 1132
Rylee's voice was fairly similar to Hanna, though they clearly had their distinct differences. One specialized in singing soprano, while the other excelled as an alto. Together, they would form an excellent duo, indeed.
“What did you say?" Hanna asked in bewilderment, thinking that Maria was just joking.
But then Francis said, "I agree with Maria. The two of you will make a good match."
Francis furrowed his brows as he gave the matter some more thought.
“I've actually been working on a documentary piece that is currently in post-production," he continued.
"And I was looking for female singers who can sing the film's soundtracks. If you and Rylee are interested, I can forgo the auditions for that project and hire you on the spot."
Hanna was beyond herself with surprise and joy. She stared in open-mouthed wonder.
"R- Really? Can I really lend my voice to your documentary?"
Hanna was aware of the prestigious invitation that the government had offered Francis. He was given the job to produce a voluminous historical documentary which was broadcast in state media and it had received good ratings and Francis had built up a very good reputation.
Hanna had heard that the second season of the series of the documentary was already in production. Not in her wildest dreams did she expect to be offered the rare opportunity to sing for such a coveted documentary!
“I'LL do it!" Hanna answered at once.
“Okay. When Rylee comes out, I'll ask her for her opinion." Francis smiled. "But I must remind you beforehand that you may be a little disappointed with the remuneration for this job.”
“It doesn't matter at all. I consider it a privilege and a great honor to work with you!" Hanna said, beaming.
She didn't mind being paid peanuts. In fact she would be prepared to pay for an opportunity to sing for them. She just wanted to get her talent out there through the best channels possible.
Besides, once the song became popular, she could demand a higher fee for performing at commercial functions and she would subsequently receive more invitations as the singer of the original.
After repeatedly expressing her gratitude to Francis, Hanna also looked at Maria thankfully.
Rylee, who was busy recording her songs, was not aware that her good streak had also begun. Although she had missed the chance of singing the interludes and the final song for Female Military Counsellor, she had been offered another wonderful opportunity.
However, Elma, who was sitting alone inside the waiting room, couldn't help feeling depressed when she heard Maria, Hanna and Francis gushing about the future prospects.
In her mind, she knew that she was a better singer than both Rylee and Hanna.
If she hadn't demanded to be the last one to audition, then she might have been invited to sing for Francis' documentary instead of Hanna!
She had missed two opportunities, it seemed. The chance to sing for the documentary and she still did not know if she had been chosen to sing the final song for Female Military Counsellor.
Why was life so unfair?
Why did misfortune follow her everywhere like a dark shadow? Elma couldn't seem to understand.
Although she appeared outwardly composed, she was seething on the inside.
