Maria's eyes narrowed as she shot a confused look at Doris.

“What are you talking about? You mean I'm not the lady of the Jenkins family? Does that make me a servant like you?"

The back and forth between the two was intense.

Someone even broke into a sudden Laughter!

Following that exchange, several people couldn't help but snicker. Noticing all this, Doris gnashed her teeth and stared daggers at Maria.

Indeed, Doris was a servant of the Jenkins family.

However, she had served the matriarch for so many years already. When the matriarch took charge of the Jenkins family, her position in the family also skyrocketed.

Thus, no one from the Jenkins family dared to really treat Doris Like a servant.

But it didn't change the reality. At the end of the day, a servant was still servant. Maria blatantly told this truth for everyone to hear. Like a servant, Doris was being paid monthly by the Jenkins family.

Doris’ face flushed red in anger as the corners of her mouth twitched.

She wanted to yell at her, but she remembered the family rules and didn't want to break it herself.

Thankfully, somebody arrived to save Doris from this embarrassment.

It was Vivian who spoke up.

Vivian knew very well how to seize an opportunity.

After her family's investment in the movie failed and their company went bankrupt, she didn't have enough money left over to buy gifts to pave her way.

However, since there was a chance that she could flatter Doris, she would do it.

Vivian stood by Doris’ side and performed a polite bow. With a smile, she said, “Please don't be angry, Doris. Maria grew up in the countryside, so she's lacking some proper education. She doesn't know how she should talk to you."

In order to help Doris save face, she smeared Maria's reputation in front of everyone.
