Chapter: 1384
Simultaneously, there was another observer witnessing the departure of Mrs. Jenkins.
Maria averted her gaze, utterly indifferent to the forthcoming award ceremony.
Truth be told, she held no interest in the supposed perks of being a champion.
At the very least, Maria could surmise that her winning the competition would significantly diminish the original grandeur of the championship award.
At the same time, the rewards for the second-place position would probably amplify, potentially surpassing even those bestowed upon the champion.
She knew Mrs. Jenkins was behind this.
Following Mrs. Jenkins’ departure, the ambiance of the award ceremony took on an air of utmost informality.
The trophy made its way to Maria through a servant who nonchalantly complied with Reuben's instructions, handling the prize with ease.
“Allow me to express my gratitude. May I now take my leave?" Maria inquired restlessly after receiving the trophy.
With a burning desire to retreat and indulge in a well-deserved nap, Maria paid no heed to whether the Jenkins family had plans to celebrate her triumph.
“One moment, Maria. I can arrange a celebratory gathering on your behalf..." Canaan uttered apologetically.
"That won't be necessary, Canaan," Maria replied, shaking her head.
“As for the dinner, prepare a packed meal and deliver it to the Lemna Yard."
Maria's intention was to promptly dive into the hibernation pod upon her return.
Furthermore, she had no objections to indulging in a midnight snack following her nap. She didn't want any cold foods so she asked for a packed meal.
“Well... I understand.”
Upon hearing Maria's words, Canaan speculated that she may have been feeling downcast due to being overlooked by Mrs. Jenkins.
In that moment, it dawned on Canaan that important guests from the Sky Group and Pill Alchemist Association were also waiting for the dinner.
Not to mention the distinguished middle-aged woman and the irritable former grade-eight pill alchemist, Goodwin.
However, before Canaan could ponder how to appease the esteemed guests, he noticed Julie and Goodwin approaching him.
“Well, well! My esteemed guests, please forgive me. The Jenkins family has failed to provide you with proper hospitality, and it is entirely my fault for making you wait. Please, follow me. Canaan declared apologetically.
As Canaan contemplated how to reassure the distinguished guests, he witnessed Julie swiftly pass by him and envelop Maria in an ecstatic embrace.
What on earth was happening?! Did they have a prior acquaintance?
Canaan found himself in a state of bewilderment.
