Chapter: 1395
“How... How dare he Look down on me!" Mrs. Jenkins didn't dare to explode until Anthony was far away. Her voice was a Little subdued and depressed.

Barbara muttered a bitter smile.

It wasn't that hard to figure it out.

Ever since Maria came back to the family, Barbara and Mrs. Jenkins had lorded over her, using their status in the ancient martial arts world to oppress her. They hadn't once considered that Maria might have her own achievements.

Now, after hearing Anthony's claims, they were at a loss

“If only I have global fans... It would be incredible if I had connections outside the field of ancient martial arts..." Barbara murmured and dreamed.

Barbara wondered what it would be Like.

Being raised by her grandmother, everything she had done was to please her grandmother. She did multiple things under her grandmother's instruction, from endangering Maria's life and imitating her skills to developing her career in the Association of Healthcare Professionals with the family's influence.

The sudden realization hit Barbara Like a bolt of Lightning.

Had she somehow lost herself throughout these years? Was she nothing more than an empty husk to fulfill her grandfather's wishes?

In contrast, Maria, who had left the Jenkins family and the world of martial arts at a young age, enjoyed a splendid life.

For some reason...

Barbara found herself envying Maria for that.

The Lemna Yard was quiet, except for the hushed conversation in the living room.

“I must say, these ancient martial arts families are nothing like I imagined. They are far more isolated and reserved than I initially thought."

Anthony was no longer sitting in his wheelchair but walking across the hall to Julie as he spoke.

Maria got up from where she was lounging and headed straight for the shower. When she finished, she went to the kitchen and promptly began cooking.

Julie wished she could help out, but she had never done any housework in her life. So, she sat at the table and fidgeted with her fingers.

It occurred to her that Anthony had approached her and chatted her up to keep her from getting bored.

“What do you mean by that?" Julie asked, thinking that she might as well indulge her curiosity.

"I just noticed that the Jenkins family is almost cut off from the world. They seemed to live in a community with Lifestyles the same as those was like two hundred years ago. Take Maria, for instance. She is a noted author known by her pen name, Mia. Do you know Mrs. Jenkins has no idea about Maria's literary accomplishments? There are very few places in the world where the residents have no access to the Internet. And apparently, Mrs. Jenkins is one of them."

Julie looked dumbfounded by Anthony's words.

“Are you serious? How can she not know about this?"

Anthony smiled wryly. "Oh, I'm sure she doesn't know about Mia at all. What's worse, she tried to talk me into breaking up with Maria and then set me up with another girl."
